Sunday is the day I try to stay home, and not watch TV. I have not attended church in some time due to the Covid virus. I just don’t feel safe in those types of settings. But, of course I can still read my Bible and I watch online church from the safety of my own home. Yesterday was Independence Day, here in the USA. Most places had cancelled their firework celebrations. My husband, and his buddy, love to light fireworks, and here in FL it is legal. Plus it is my son’s birthday, and my husband’s is today, so it is special to them. While I love the fireworks I am not fond of the danger of them, so I sit in the backyard where I can see them, but not see my son and husband messing with them. This year there was the extra danger of the virus and having people congregate at our home. Usually we would invite lots of people and have food and drinks. This year we had to limit the number of people to only close friends and family with no indoor access. We have a large yard so social distancing was not an issue. We had masks if anyone felt the need to use one, and hand sanitizer. My son is getting married at the end of the month, and then after that I am hibernating as the cases in FL are skyrocketing. I am quite nervous about the Bridal Shower and wedding. But, I refuse to not attend, or live in fear, I will just use proper precautions.
The other day I had to take my daughter to buy her brother a birthday gift. We went to a county where face masks are mandatory. She wanted to go into Books a Million to see if she could find one of the books he likes. They did not have it, but she found a book she would like to read. This made me so happy as getting her to read is like pulling teeth, and she picked Michelle Obama’s book. I of course will read that after her. As for me there were so m any books to choose from. I have the Kindle Unlimited plan, which I use all the time, but usually the most popular books are not available for free. That doesn’t mean I don’t find good reads, though. But there is something about holding a book in your hands and turning the pages. It is special. So, I decided to get a book too. I chose The Testaments, by Margaret Atwood. It is the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. I have read The Handmaid’s Tale, it is free on Kindle Unlimited, so I picked The Testaments. I can tell you it is a very easy read, and i love it so far. You can watch the Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.
This is not a paid post, and the links are just for you to find the books should you choose to read them. Do you love to read? Share your favorite books in the comments.
